Why the mandatory UFI code is so important

At Synerlogic,which In2Food is part of, safety and compliance with laws and regulations are central to our production processes. One of the important steps to ensure this is the UFI code on our chemical products. This code is an essential part of European chemicals legislation and plays a crucial role in quickly and effectively responding to emergencies, such as accidents or exposure to hazardous substances.

What is a UFI code?

The UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier) is a unique 16-character alphanumeric code required on the labels of mixtures classified as hazardous due to their health effects or physical hazards. Physical hazards are risks posed by chemical substances due to their properties.

This requirement falls under CLP legislation (Classification, Labelling, and Packaging). This code enables poison centres and other emergency services to respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency, such as poisoning or accidental exposure.

The UFI code must be clearly visible, readable, and indelible on the product’s label. This is the responsibility of the manufacturer. The supplier of the mixture must ensure that the UFI code is included on the label. It may be that the UFI code has been added by us or by the original manufacturer of the product.

From 1 January 2025, all Synerlogic mixture packaging will be provided with a UFI code. For bulk goods without packaging, the UFI code will be included in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

How does this process work at Synerlogic?

The process for creating and implementing a UFI code on product labels is managed by SHEQ specialists and includes the following steps:

Identification of mixtures: We determine whether the mixture is classified for physical or health hazards. If so, a UFI code must be created.
Creation of the UFI code: Using ECHA’s (European Chemicals Agency) UFI generator, we create a unique code based on the formulation number and our VAT number.
Registration in the PCN portal: We register the UFI code and associated product information with ECHA’s PCN portal (Poison Centre Notification).
Correct labelling: The UFI code is clearly visible, readable, and indelible on the product label. For bulk goods without packaging, the UFI code is included in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). If Synerlogic purchases a product, we check whether the UFI code is on the label.
Updates in case of changes: Any changes in the composition of the mixture will result in the UFI code being revised and re-registered.

How long will it take to receive my order?

We work with fixed routing days in the Netherlands and Belgium. If you want your order to be delivered on day 3, you must place your order on day 1 before 5 pm.

Example: for Wednesday’s routing day, Monday 17.00 hours is the latest order time.

Preferred times and rush orders are always discussed with our colleagues. Together we often find a good solution.

What are the shipping costs for my order?

We determine the shipping costs on the basis of order value and destination. Above a certain order value, we do not charge for this. You can request the current rate from our Customer Service Team.

Can I specify several delivery addresses when placing one order?

No, we use a unique order number in combination with the desired delivery address. Of course, you can place several orders with different delivery addresses.

Can I still change, supplement or cancel an order I have placed?

For changes and additions, the same deadline applies as for placing an order. If delivery is scheduled for day 3, changes and additions can be made on day 1 until 5 pm.

You can change the desired delivery time until the day before delivery, before 5pm. In consultation, we will gladly plan another routing day, preferred time or make a rush order with you.

Can I place an old order again?

Yes, you can do so at order@in2food.nl. We need the following details here: your customer number, order number, postcode and desired delivery date.

How do I ensure that In2Food takes back my empty packaging?

You must register the empty packaging with our Customer Service department in advance using the online registration form:
www.in2food.co.uk/emptypackaging.

You then prepare the return order.

The registered packaging is stacked and sealed on a Europallet with cap and sleeve.

Maximum number on a pallet:

Cans: 72 pieces, 6 layers high
Drums: 8 pieces, 2 layers high
IBC: 1 piece, 1 layer high
Varibox/Icon: 1 piece, 1 layer high
